Work in Action.

We work with our clients to create a future where CS is more equitable, accessible, and inclusive for all students.

Our clients may or may not already be providing CS programming to students and educators, but they understand the necessity this education plays in the future of our youth.

Together, we are making our vision for CS education possible.

IDEA CS Summer Series

A Micro Professional Development Series for Teachers, Instructional Coaches, and Administrators

CS education policy (House Bill 2170) passed by the Illinois State Board of Education in 2021 has mandated two new computing education requirements. The Illinois Digital Educators Association (IDEA) is one of many organizations looking to address the needs of educators across the state who now must meet these requirements. CS for Success developed a set of virtual Micro PD for IDEA to help prepare K-12 CS educators across Illinois as they look to onboard computing literacy and computer science offerings.

The set of Micro PD developed for IDEA includes three series - one for educators, one for administrators, and one for instructional coaches - each consisting of four (4) thirty (30) minute virtual Micro PD sessions. Each of the three series concludes with a CS capstone modeled after our Administrator PD (as advertised in Our Services). While each series featured unique content geared toward that audience, each of the twelve (12) total sessions developed is meant to be modular and easily grasped regardless of audience. Each session implements a similar format in order to streamline content while providing maximum opportunity for practice and skill development during the limited time frame.

Why Computer Science?

A Micro PD for Instructional Coaches

Have you ever questioned the relevance of a CS education? As coaches, it is imperative to have a high-level understanding of the data that demonstrates the need for increased access to K-12 CS education. This Micro PD invites you to explore how current trends in K-12 CS education are shaped by the economic, academic, and cultural impacts of computing.

REACH for IT

RUSH Education and Career Hub (REACH) Creates Pathways for Student Success in Cybersecurity, AI, Web Development, Robotics, and Health IT

CS for Success worked with REACH to launch their new STEM learning initiative, REACH for IT, in 2021. REACH for IT aims to increase the number of low- to moderate-income Black and Latinx youth in Chicago who are meeting key academic and workforce readiness benchmarks; this initiative is looking to provide these youth with access to family-sustaining careers. The rollout of this initiative required the development of a program framework for each component of REACH for IT — the Exploration Program (enrichment) and IT Careers+ (advancement).

This Career Progressions report was created to detail the strategy and purpose behind REACH for IT implementation.
